dance moms 7-3

I am watching dance moms on the lifetime channel.  It is entertaining to me because of the reminders of what life was like when I practically lived at a dance studio.  I danced for years, ages 16 to 23.  When I started I was a junior in high school and it was after my surgery for scoliosis.  I have 2 rods in my back.  They are fused with bone to the spine.  I also grew 1 1/2 inches after my surgery.  I was upset because they said I would grow 2 inches and I only grew 1 1/2 inches.  Hey, when you are 5 feet and 1/2 inch, that extra 1/2 inch means a lot.  Anyways, the dance competition is called Star Power and I so remember that one.  We attended it every year for about 3 years or so.  When I became a teacher and no longer competed, I took my classes to that competition.  I also sang at a lot of these competitions.  I am thankful for the experience although I do not miss the stage mothers.  The first time my mom came to a dance competition, I was really nervous because she had never seen me compete before.  Yes, she had seen me perform at recitals and things like that but never in a competition.  I sang at that one too.  I sang a song from Phantom of the Opera.  Mom was very excited for me.  She was so excited that she sent in my entry to the Nationals a few days later.  Mom told me as she was leaving for work.  We had to go to  Pigeon Forge for the Nationals.  I worked really hard to really nail my music.  I won first in my division and 4th for overall solos.  I was so excited about that.  It is the only trophy I actually have left.  Somehow the others were accidentally donated.  Thankfully, I have one left.  That was the last time I competed.  I concentrated on teaching after that one instead of competitions.  Some of the girls I danced with now own their dance studios.  It is quiet awesome.  I ran into one of them in Dearborn a few years ago when I was at the Music Competition.  It was quite neat.  I don't miss a lot of things about life at the dance studio but I do miss dancing.  I wish I were healthy enough to dance again.  At least I can dance in my dreams!

Today was the initial visit with the occupational therapist.  She was really nice.  I have to fill out some paperwork for next week.  It is an easy questionnaire.  I will do it this week so I will have for her next week.  Lori, the therapist, was happy that I have made some adjustments when I was and dry clothes since I have a hard time getting the clothes out of the washer and into the dryer.  She suggested I get one of those reach thingys.  So I am going to.  I think they have them in Walmart or Target.  I will check it out tomorrow.  I also can get the movie Mirror Mirror!  I am rather excited about it.  I am hoping to watch it with the Hubels.  I don't think there is anything objectionable in there that would prevent Rachel to watch, but I would rather they check it out to make sure that way I will know that all of us can watch us.

Rizzoli and Isles is on right now.  I really like this show.  I like Angie Harmon and Sasha Alexander.  Sasha I first saw in NCIS and Angie was on Law and Order.  Both actresses are really good.

Tomorrow I think I have my 3 little ones for their lessons.  They are such cuties.  They really are.  All three play so well especially since they started after Christmas.  All three have finished 2 books and are on their 3rd book, all in 6 months.  Yes, 6 months.  It is so hard to believe how they are taking to piano.  I may have a new online student in the next few weeks.  I sure hope so.

I have a bit of a bad headache tonight.  I sure hope it goes away soon.  I won't be able to sleep if it doesn't.
